Oracle Video Briefing Series - Insights & Recommendations for 2022

Understanding, analyzing, and optimizing Oracle licensing models is both complex and challenging, and is a situation often further complicated by how Oracle operates its audit practice, as well as how business operation and IT changes impact on license agreements. Without a clear understanding and oversight of your entire Oracle estate, you could be exposed to escalating costs and unforeseen risks.

So, we wanted to provide some high-level insights on some challenges facing Oracle customers, and offer our experience and expertise to support organizations looking to mitigate some of these risks and make the most out of their Oracle environment.

Hosted by Livingstone’s Oracle Practice Lead, Razvan Tarnovschi, our six-part mini-series is delivered in bite-sized videos that take no more than 20 minutes out of your day to provide some extra insight on key areas, from what considerations to take into account if you’re starting or renewing a ULA to licensing implications for VM-ware to ways to achieve cost reductions on your Oracle spend.

Our series of six short briefings are available on-demand and will cover:

  • Episode 1 - Oracle ULAs – In the first video of the series, we’ll take a look at some considerations to keep in mind if you’re signing up to a new ULA, already have one in place or are looking to renew. We’ll look at everything from Oracle’s Total Support Stream, to clauses for divested and acquired entities, to the importance of controlling and optimizing your Oracle estate.
  • Episode 2 - Oracle on VM-ware – In Episode 2, Razvan will look at the licensing implications and potential scenarios associated with licensing Oracle on VM-ware. He’ll look at VM-ware’s licensing rules, VM-ware environment integration as well as VM-ware’s relationship with ULAs.
  • Episode 3 - Oracle Audits – We know that vendor audits can be overwhelming, so in this video, we want to provide you with a few pointers on how to control your deployments and why it’s important to know your rights. From an audit’s scope, to what information is shared to your contractual rights, Razvan will take you through what you need to know so that you can be prepared for any audit eventuality.
  • Episode 4 - Oracle third-party support – In this episode, we’ll dig into Oracle third-party support, looking at what support is available, how it compares to Oracle’s own support, and key things to be considered.
  • Episode 5 - Oracle Cost Reduction – Achieving cost savings on your Oracle spend is a key priority for many Oracle customers, and in this episode Razvan will explore what savings are out there to be made. This includes savings on support stream – whether volume-based or including support caps – as well as licensing savings. Here, price holds, limited vs unlimited usage, license migration and processors vs NUP all come into play.
  • Episode 6 - Oracle Managed Services – In the final video of the series, we’ll take a brief look at what to expect when it comes to Oracle Managed Service. Razvan will first dig into what an Oracle Managed Service actually entails, before moving onto what makes Livingstone’s managed services for Oracle different in this space.
