Mergers, Acquisitions & Divestitures activity hits record high; placing ITAM further up organizations’ agendas

Earlier this year, my colleagues Gareth Redshaw and Chris Gough discussed the importance of a robust ITAM strategy for organizations navigating complex mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.

Since then, the volume of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activity across the world has hit new heights, with Refinitiv calculating that the total value of both pending and completed deals announced in 2021 so far has exceeded $3.6 trillion – that’s more than the combined value of all M&A transactions registered in the whole of 2020.

Mergers and Acquisitions are clearly back and activity is stronger than ever

Mergers and Acquisitions are clearly back and activity is stronger than ever, as organizations and their investors strive to unlock additional value via new economies of scale, and by accessing new markets, talent pools and innovations. Yet while Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestitures are increasingly making sense on the balance sheet, the mechanics of integrating disparate companies into a single entity is by no means a simple undertaking. This is particularly the case when it comes to merging software and cloud estates.

This is where Livingstone Group can help.

Our team has just produced a whitepaper designed to steer IT teams through this most challenging of processes. This latest Livingstone Group whitepaper talks in depth about the need to scrutinize contracts relating to all cloud and software deployments and usage across the separate business entities, thereby identifying any commercial risks as well as pinpointing all unnecessary expenditure. It also explains the importance of creating an  cross-functional taskforce to manage the process of migrating all these legacy contracts to a single entity that better suits the need of the new organization; a process that requires planning, preparation, and management.

The paper describes how organizations can use these major business transactions as a trigger to negotiate new, more favorable contract terms with their software and cloud service providers, and ultimately deliver additional value to their stakeholders.

You can download our new Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestitures: Leveraging the commercial opportunities for software and cloud whitepaper for free here , while our team of experts is on hand to answer any questions you have about integrating your estate, as well as consolidating and optimizing contracts as your company undergoes strategic and extensive change.
